About Us
The MOUNTAIN MUSIC FESTIVAL in Manitou Springs, Colorado, was born in 1983, the offspring of the vision of MMF founders Bud and Donna Ford of Manitou's THE DULCIMER SHOP (formerly Cripple Creek Dulcimer Shop) and their close friend Tom Ivey. All three are craftworkers and musicians, makers of fine dulcimers, guitars, and other stringed instruments, and performers in their own roots/Americana/gospel/folk group, Cripple Creek.
Bud, Donna, and Tom also share a passionate commitment to the power of music to transform the world and a belief that acoustic folk music played and sung with, by, and for ordinary folks would be the best way to effect that ongoing transformation.
From its inception more than a quarter of a century ago, the MOUNTAIN MUSIC FESTIVAL has featured a wide range of professional performers from all kinds of folk and acoustic music - singer/songwriters, polished urban folksingers, bluegrass bands, traditional singers and instrumentalists, world music exponents, and always a diverse and innovative group of dulcimer musicians.
In 2009, the vision renews itself once more, as THE DULCIMER SHOP proudly presents the twenty-seventh edition of Manitou Springs' MOUNTAIN MUSIC FESTIVAL.
